US President Donald Trump called on Friday the American Congress to adopt a law that would bear a change in time and introduced the current summer time permanently. In his opinion, such a decision would be well received by citizens.

In an entry on his social networking site, Truth Social Trump also emphasized that the abolition of a change of time would mean that “there would be no need to move the clock, which is a serious inconvenience, and for you is very expensive.”

The American president called for a change in time in December last year, but at the time there was talk of staying with winter time, although the majority in the Republican Party opposed it. Currently, Trump postulates that summer time becomes applicable.

In 2022, the Republican Party submitted a bill on the introduction of summer time. The Senate adopted the project unanimously, but the initiative was rejected by the House of Representatives. One of the authors of this project was the current head of American diplomacy Marco Rubio.

Time changes were justified in the past by adapting hours of activity to sunlight to limit the use of artificial lighting. The European Parliament accepted the decision to resign from the change in time in 2019, but its implementation was repeatedly postponed.

Currently, the change of time to summer and winter is used in about 70 countries of the world, mainly in North America and Europe; Some states of Australia, New Zealand and Chile practice it in the southern hemisphere. (PAP)
