The candidate of the ruling coalition, Crin Antonescu, told journalists on Monday night of asking PSD leaders, PNL, UDMR and national minorities to modify the law so that magistrates will retire in the future at 65, “like all citizens”. Antonescu said that the leaders of the Coalition accepted the proposal and on Tuesday they will submit a draft law to the Parliament in this regard.
Crin Antonescu made the announcement after attending a meeting of the ruling coalition, which took place in the Government. He argued his request by the fact that they are currently “at least 230 million euros that are blocked in the PNRR”.
“I would just like to announce one thing that has been decided now and after that I will not take questions (…).
He said that future prosecutors and judges who are going to enter the judiciary should retire at 65: “Like all citizens.”
“I asked for this to the coalition, this principle has been accepted. Tomorrow will be submitted to Parliament a draft law signed by all four presidents of the parties that compose the ruling coalition. These are the special pensions in the judiciary and the retirement age of the judiciary. You will receive other details starting tomorrow.
