A mixed team made up of lifeguards and border guards ascend in the Maramureş Mountains at about 1,700 meters altitude for the recovery of an Ukrainian citizen, on Sunday, the director of the County Public Service (SPJ) Salvamont Maramureş, Dan Benga, quoted by Agerpres.

According to him, the information was received from another Ukrainian, recovered by a border police crew from Poienile de Sub Munte, who reported the situation of his friend.

“The Ukrainian citizen is 44 years old, he can no longer travel and is in hypothermia, being dressed in a pair of jeans, a jacket and shoes with sports shoes (…). of the Ukrainian in the mountain, as well as the extremely low temperatures in the mountain, it was decided to leave a team of mountain rescuers, which will do the junction with a border police team under the mountain (…) To try to find it and save it.

According to the quoted source, the SMURD helicopter from the Aero (POA) Jibou, Sălaj County was also requested, but the search operation was stopped due to difficult weather conditions.

“The helicopter from Poa Jibou, who responded extremely quickly, was requested, taking into account the rescuers, but unfortunately, because of the extremely unfavorable time, they had to withdraw and cancel Aero mission,” said Dan Benga.

In the last 24 hours, in the mountain areas it has snowed abundantly, and on some portions the snow layer exceeds 30 cm, the wind speed is increased, and in the alpine area the weather changes rapidly.
