VIDEO Grindeanu's answer to Bolojan, who said that he found “rats in the state's pantry eating away at supplies”

The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, mocked the measures taken by the liberal Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and declared that “it is very nice to appear to be the great reformer of Romania, but in reality things are completely different”.

The PSD leader was asked on Saturday how he comments on the criticisms launched by the prime minister on Friday on Radio Romania Actualității, where the prime minister accused the social democrats of playing a “double game” and criticized their attitude towards the reforms.

“Which reforms? One you tell me? Or Mr. Bolojan tells me one? Only one. I understand that it's very nice to appear to be the great reformer of Romania, but in reality things are completely different. If you mean, let's say, what the package on the administration meant, is that a reform? Is firing people a reform? That's a mass dismissal”, answered Sorin Grindeanu, in the press conference in Timișoara.

“Pantry rats” and “real ratism”

Prime Minister Bolojan had stated that the measures taken by the Government to reduce the deficit and limit the budget waste disturbed interests.

“When I opened the state pantry, I found some rats gnawing the provisions and put the light on them. And that was disturbing,” said Bolojan.

Now, Sorin Grindeanu criticized the government's intention to list certain state companies on the stock exchange. However, the possibility of listing some companies has been analyzed by the state for several years, and this is even a PNRR milestone.

“The reform of profitable state companies, let's sell them, is this reform? This is robbery. This is ratism. To sell profitable companies in a period of economic crisis, this is the real ratism,” the PSD president accused.

Thus, several voices from the PSD criticized this intention of the government, releasing messages with a common theme, namely that “the country is being sold”. On the other side, a PNL leader defended the Government's plan, in a dialogue with HotNews.

“22 problem companies, real black holes for the state budget, have been put on the table, and for some of them the Government is also discussing the option of listing on the stock exchange, with minority stakes and based on feasibility studies. This is a discussion about efficiency, governance and responsibility, not about selling the country”, declared PNL vice-president Alexandru Muraru
