
Members of the UEFA Executive Committee were elected on April 3 at the 49th Congress, which took place in the capital of Serbia Belgrade.
“I received a lot of support from my colleagues in the struggle for a place in the executive committee. Throughout my life and career, I am guided by the main principle-sports. I’m used to fighting honestly, openly and transparently. I am about football and about football. However, in recent days we received certain signals that because of the political aspects of Ukraine and I personally did not want to see in the governing body of UEFA,” Shevchenko said.
The release says that the executive committee of the legendary Ukrainian football player put forward regional football associations and the UAF Executive Committee.
“It was a vote not only for me as a candidate, but also for our country. We will not change our position and continue the reform in our football. We will also continue to conduct international communication in the interests of our state and the football community,” Shevchenko said.
The new or re-elected members of the UEFA Executive Committee became four years-Lisa Clavenes (Norway), Frank Pau (Netherlands), Garbiele Gravina (Italy), Hans-Johagim Vatsk (Germany), Marian Kustich (Croatia), Arya Lahti (Finland), Avivar Polassi, Armen Melikbekyan (Armenia); For two years – Abal Rafael Luzan (Spain) and Moshe Zoarez (Israel).
