The head of government announced that world leaders, including: US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer contacted him to express their sympathy.

New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon confirmed that the perpetrators of the attack were a father in his 50s and his 24-year-old son. The older attacker was shot by the police, while the younger one is in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Five people remain in critical condition

As it was revealed, the elderly man had been allowed to possess six firearms for about 10 years. This entire arsenal was found at the scene of the attack. NSW Ambulance Commissioner Dominic Morgan said 123 people were involved in the rescue. The first ambulances arrived at the scene less than ten minutes after the first signal about the attack.

The police stated that they launched “Operation Shelter” on Monday morning, and 328 officers were sent to the area where the attack took place. It was also announced that police patrols would monitor religious places, including those visited by the Jewish community. The services appealed to the Australian public to remain calm.
