Emotion in Chisinau: Emmanuel Macron and Donald Tusk addressed Moldovans in Romanian. “Together we will write a new chapter in history”
Surprise of proportions within the concert dedicated to Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova, where French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sent Moldovan support messages in Romanian.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the prime minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, surprised the audience in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, holding their speeches in Romanian, in front of the hundreds of citizens present at the concert organized by the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.
“I learned a truth: when a people is united and brave, no empire can defeat it. Donald Tusk said.
Also the Polish prime minister has launched a firm call: “Do not let Russia return here. Do not waste what you have built. The future of Moldova is in the European Union. Europe is a peace project, and Moldova is part of this project. We, the Poles, will be with you, for every Moldovan to live safely and with dignity.”
And the French President Emmanuel Macron also kept his message in Romanian.
“I came to send you the message of friendship from the French people, who admire your struggle for democracy and justice. You already belong to the European family and you can count on the support and respect of Europe. The EU will be stronger with Moldova. And Moldova will be in powerful Europe. Together we will write a new chapter in history,” he said in the applause of the audience.
The images with the Romanian messages of the two European leaders were distributed by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, on his Facebook account.
