By decision of President Andrzej Duda, the funeral day of Pope Francis will be a day of national mourning – said the head of the Presidential International Policy Office Wojciech Kolarski. He added that the ordinance in this matter requires the Prime Minister's countersignate and such a document will be forwarded to the Chancellery of the Chancellery.


“In connection with the death of the Holy Father, President Andrzej Duda decided to announce the day of the funeral – on April 26 – to the day of national mourning,” said cycling during Tuesday's briefing.
He added that the presidential ordinance requires the countersignate of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and such a document “will be transferred to the Prime Minister by the head of the office by Minister Małgorzata Paprocka”.
President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda will take part on Saturday at the funeral of Pope Francis.
“The president and the first lady, Mrs. Agata Kornhauser -Duda, will take part in the funeral of Pope Francis,” he informed cycling at a briefing in Warsaw.
Pope Francis died on Monday at 7.35 at the age of 88. The cause of death was stroke, coma and irreversible cardiological collapse.
The funeral ceremony of Pope Francis will start this Saturday at Saint Peter Square in the Vatican at 10. After the mass in Saint Peter's Square, the casket with the pope's body will be taken to the Basilica of Our Lady, where he will be buried according to his will. (PAP)
