The interim mayor believes that the entire coalition, including the PSD, should support a common candidate for the capital. “Any mechanism of separation is welcome”

The interim mayor of the municipality of Bucharest, the liberal Stelian Bujduveanu, reiterated that he did not exclude to run for the following elections for the Capital City Hall on Tuesday, on B1 TV, and said that “it would be beneficial for this ruling coalition to give a common candidate”, because “the experience of previous years”, in which there were tensions, 2 ”of the presidentials of 2024.
He said that the Government will establish the date of elections for the municipality “related to the coalition discussion (…), to what the Romanian economy will look like, the costs of organizing the elections”, but added that “the City Hall works” and currently.
“After the Government will decide when the date of the elections will certainly be, all those who want and who have something to say for this city are free to announce their candidacy,” continued Stelian Bujduveanu.
Asked about the possibility of primary elections to establish a candidate of the coalition, Bujduveanu said that “any mechanism of separation, given that we have no elections in two tours, is welcome”.
“If we fragment the right, as we have done in the last 20 years, we will wake up that we give the capital in the hand of an extremist (…).
“If we only make choices that someone has no job, we will be charged by Bucharest”
The Liberal said that a candidate must be found in which there is certainty “that he can, first of all, do something for this city.”
“If we only make choices that someone has no job, to be forgiven, then we will be charged by Bucharest. Our goal is to find that man who can take the capital in the correct direction, as the President of Romania left and as it is now, and, two, not to risk giving it to an extremist,” Stelian continued.
He said he did not exclude the possibility of applying.
“There are many (candidates, no) on the right side, I noticed (…). On the left there are a few. The biggest concern is that if we talk about names, without having the date of elections, we do nothing but put gas on fire,” said Stelian Bujduveanu.
Asked if a possible common candidacy of the PNL and the USR could be supported by the PSD, the Liberal replied: “It would be good and beneficial would be for this ruling coalition to give a common candidate, because the experience we had in previous years, in which the morning at the coalition I was aggressing something, at noon, we were arguing, I went to the evening. Georgescu in round 2 ”.
