Why does CTP think that “Nicușor Dan had the most to gain” among the politicians present at the Cathedral / The decision that “would be met with hats thrown up”

Cristian Tudor Popescu commented on Monday the presence of President Nicușor Dan at the consecration service of the painting of the National Cathedral and believes that the current head of state “is moving more and more towards this orthodox side, towards the connection with the Church, towards the appeal to religious traditions”.
The journalist said, in an intervention on B1 TV, that “if Patriarch Daniel had been appointed” now as prime minister by President Nicușor Dan, “especially since this has happened before in our history, such a decision would have been met with hats thrown up by many”.
He believes that “Nicușor Dan is moving, after being elected president, more and more towards this orthodox side, towards the connection with the Church, towards the appeal to religious traditions, something that no president has done so far in Romania”.
“Let's think, Iliescu also jumped some cages, but he had no connection, he was a free thinker. Emil Constantinescu only had contact with the monk Vasile, if you remember, and that was it. Traian Băsescu, let's be serious! And Iohannis, who, by the way, was absent from here, had nothing to do with anything (…), he had nothing to do with God, nor with people, he had nothing to do but with him himself,” CTP added.

The journalist believes that although “many politicians came” to Sunday's event at the National Cathedral, “Nicușor Dan had the most to gain”.
“Mr. Nicușor Dan won the most, although all the politicians wanted to expose themselves here. He had a very good image, with his partner and two children as nice as possible, and he managed to close this way, to create a traditional image, an image… “Conservative” is not a suitable term, because people do not understand what conservative is. Man with the fear of God and respect for traditions and family. And, in this way, Mr. Nicușor Dan takes votes from AUR and Călin Georgescu, which is an objective for a politician to consider. A vote equals a vote, regardless of where it comes from,” CTP also declared.
