Over 38,000 migrants have arrived in Italy since the beginning of the year. This is an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year – said the Ministry of the Interior in Rome in a report announced on Friday. It recorded an increase of 15 percent of the number of crimes committed since January on women by their partners, including former.

According to the data of the Ministry of the Interior, the migration wave has decreased compared to the two years ago. As emphasized, in July 2023 over 23,000 migrants came to the Italian coast, while in the same month there were about 6400 in this year.

In addition, it was announced that 77,000 were laid during the first seven months. asylum applications; 22 percent less than at the same time last year. 58 percent of such requests were rejected.

3.4 thousand migrants were sent to the country of origin; 12 percent more than in 2024.

The Ministry of the Interior report also contains data on crime in Italy from January. It recorded, among others, an increase in the number of murders by over 3 percent.

By 15 percent compared to the same period a year ago, the number of crimes committed on women by their partners, including former ones, increased. 60 women have been killed since January.

The ministry also stated that from the beginning of the year almost 6,000 goods belonging to the mafia were confiscated. This is over one -fifth increase compared to last year.
