Another wave of group layoffs. The situation is the most difficult in these regions

On May 2025, he brought disturbing data from the labor market – in many regions of Poland, companies reported the intention to carry out group layoffs, and some employers have already reduced their teams. In total, the planned reductions affect over 1.2 thousand people. We checked how this situation looks in individual regions of the country.

Last month, the voivodship labor offices adopted many applications regarding group dismissals. Although some of them did not record any activity in this area, others – as in Lesser Poland, in the Lublin region or Mazovia – are facing large reductions in full -time jobs. It turns out that industries most affected by this phenomenon are industry, IT, financial and administrative services.
Most exemptions in Lesser Poland
In Krakow, four applications of group layoffs were submitted to employment offices, covering a total of 310 people. Reductions were announced by companies from the information and communication industry, industrial processing and administration services. Simultaneously in seven plants, there were already dismissals – as many as 413 people lost their jobs.
In the Lubelskie Voivodeship, plans to dismiss 116 employees in a company dealing in graphic design in Lublin. In addition, three plants have already reduced employment – a total of 241 people. The greatest layoffs took place in Chełm (192 people in the glass production industry) and Kraśnik (30 people in the Production Sector of Drive parts).
Hundreds of people will lose their jobs in Mazovia and Silesia
In Mazovia, seven enterprises have announced group layoffs to cover 243 people. Industries affected by reductions include IT, financial sector, research and development, trade and production of food and machines.
On the other hand In Silesia, four plants plan to dismiss 308 employees, mainly in industrial processing and healthcare. In Łódź, however, the last data relate to reports from April. They covered four companies, where a total of 152 people are to lose their jobs – including in Damco Poland (47 people), VMG of Konstantynów (52 people), Górzyny Group sp. Z oo (26 people) and at the Wośko Family Foundation in Kutno (24 people).
There, employees can feel safe?
In other regions, the situation is definitely better:
- Toruń: One company has reported a dismissal of 59 people, and three others have already terminated contracts with 86 employees.
- Wielkopolska: 54 people included in plans, 17 already released.
- West Pomeranian: 116 people in plans (including meat and port industries), 15 already released.
- Pomeranian: 8 people to dismiss in one service company
- Świętokrzyskie: Without new applications, but work may soon lose to 86 people from the Municipal Family Support Center in Kielce
- Podlasie, Warmia and Mazury: No reports or actual dismissals have been recorded.
- Lubuskie: One company from the retail industry of clothing.
The data collected by Bankier.pl from the Provincial Labor Office shows that May 2025 was marked by numerous reports of group layoffs throughout Poland. Hundreds of people can lose their jobs, mainly from the industrial, IT and trade sectors. Although not all regions of Poland have felt the effects of employment reduction, in many voivodships group layoffs again become a serious problem.
