In the coming weeks, even in November, we will present a program for the construction of an anti-drone system, announced the Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. He assured that the Polish defense industry would play a key role in it.

On Wednesday, Kosiniak-Kamysz was asked by journalists about the program to build an anti-drone system, which has been announced for several weeks and is intended to protect Polish airspace against drone attacks, e.g. those that took place on the night of September 9-10.
In response, the head of the Ministry of National Defense assured that work on designing such a system is already underway, and negotiations with equipment manufacturers are also underway. He added that it is about a “comprehensive drone and anti-drone program” built on the basis of Ukraine's experienceas well as other countries that have recently experienced violations of their airspace.
He emphasized that the main role in the prepared program will be played by the Polish defense industry – including the private one – but “there will also be cooperators – our allies.”
The head of the Ministry of National Defense pointed out that in the project it's all about effectorsi.e. equipment designed strictly to combat threats. – The issue of imaging is already quite well secured – he said, pointing out, among other things, on the ordered “Barbara” reconnaissance aerostats or Polish passive location systems, which will soon become part of the army's equipment. He added that while focusing on the construction of an anti-drone defense system, other aspects of air defense – against missiles or enemy aircraft – cannot be neglected.
When asked when the program could be expected to be presented, Kosiniak-Kamysz assured that it was “in the coming days, in the coming weeks.” – I would like it to happen in November – he added.
In recent days, the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, also spoke about the issue of the anti-drone system. In an interview with Bloomberg, he pointed out that “we are ready to consider external proposals or solutions (…) but we give priority to domestic projects.” He added that solutions introduced as part of EU initiatives will be able to complement the Polish concept of defense against drones in the future.
Tomczyk said that activities related to the construction of the Polish anti-drone system are to include investments in technologies for detecting, disrupting and neutralizing drones as part of a broader anti-aircraft defense program. The first results are expected within three months from the announcement of the commencement of work, and the full system is to be ready in two years.
He also noted that Polish companies should implement at least half of the contracts related to the construction of the Polish anti-drone shield. To finance work on the defense system against drones, the Ministry of Defense plans to use funds from the European Union's SAFE program. Poland is to be the largest beneficiary of these funds and will receive EUR 43.7 billion for defense purposes. (PAP)
