The chairwoman of the European Commission on Thursday at the Energy Summit in London said that the European Union did not forget how the United States immediately entered LNG when Europe needed it. She added that energy partnerships as from the US remain strategic for the EU.

The goal is – as the head of the EC emphasized – the Union would no longer depend on the hostile power in terms of energy.
“As for gas supplies, we have not forgotten how the United States immediately entered LNG when we needed it during the crisis,” she said, referring to the cut -off of Europe by Russia from gas supply as a consequence of the Russian attack on Ukraine in 2022. As she added, the EU also remembers additional gas with Norwegia pipelines The Republic of Korea, closely cooperated with the EU in global markets to ensure Europe with energy security. “These energy partnerships, including LNG imports from the United States, remain strategic for the EU,” said von der Leyen.

“This progress is crucial because we are observing the intensification of threats to energy security around the world. We see how enemies attack critical infrastructure with physical and cybernetic attacks. We see Huti fighters use bullets to attack international transports, including tankers” – she mentioned.
According to von der Leyen, the area of development of cooperation with partners in the area of energy may also be to improve the security of energy infrastructure within NATO, as well as building connections enabling more efficient energy transmission on the continent.
