Polish Couriers Prefer Employment Contracts Over B2B Models

Research conducted by the platform Furgonetka.pl explored job satisfaction among couriers in Poland. The findings indicate that business-to-business (B2B) arrangements do not dominate the sector as previously thought.
Employment Contracts are the Most Common
According to the BRiS report commissioned by Furgonetka.pl, the courier industry operates through multiple work models. About 43.2 percent of respondents indicated they are employed under contracts of employment, while 36 percent work under commission contracts, and the remaining are self-employed. Notably, more than half of those with B2B experience would choose that model again.
Andrzej Ciesielski, CEO of Furgonetka.pl, noted that discussions about courier work often oversimplify the reality. The data reveals a more nuanced picture; couriers are not a homogenous group bound to a single employment model. They have varying needs, expectations, and motivations, with the form of contract being just one of several factors influencing job satisfaction. Key aspects include work organization, predictability of rules, and working conditions.
Additionally, nearly 72 percent of respondents indicated they work in rural areas or small to medium-sized towns. This suggests that the last mile of delivery is not only crucial for urban e-commerce but also represents one of the most dispersed networks of work across local Poland.
