A naval drone exploded in the Romanian port of Constanta. What did the country's Ministry of Defense say?


In the civilian port of Constanta (Romania), on the morning of June 5, a naval drone was discovered, belonging to the type of UAVs used in the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

According to the department, there are no casualties or injuries.

The drone was found near the base of the Romanian Agency for the Rescue of Life at Sea. It self-destructed around 10:30.

The area was surrounded by security forces.

“The naval drone is of the type used in the war in Ukraine. We note that this object is not part of the arsenal of the Romanian army and did not participate in the recent exercises organized by the Ministry of National Defense in the Black Sea region,” the message said.

The case is being investigated by the prosecutor's office at the Constanta Court of Appeal.

According to Digi24, the incident occurred in the area of ​​berths No. 77–78 near the oil terminal.

According to media reports, we may be talking about a Ukrainian naval drone that was transporting tens of kilograms of explosives.
