
After his divorce from his second wife, Poplavsky was no longer married and never advertised his personal life, only hinting that he had one.
What is known about Poplavsky’s marriages
Poplavsky divorced his first wife, who worked as a paramedic in the village, because she forbade him to go to college. He spoke about this in an interview with the “Zirkovy Shlyakh” program, which aired on the “Ukraine” channel in November 2021.
“She says, choose: either me or [Киевский] Institute of Culture. Women should never ask men questions like that. In the morning I go on a motorcycle to the registry office. He got divorced and went to college. Therefore, women, don’t give men “either-or” because a man will choose what he wants,” he said.
According to Poplavsky, he lived with his first wife for more than a year.
His second wife was a student at the library department of the Institute of Culture Lyudmilawhom he met at a disco. They separated in 2009.
“Nothing connected us, and we parted. Today, many men and women suffer from each other. It’s better to get a divorce and be happy. This is my position,” Poplavsky noted.
In their marriage, they had a son, Alexander. He is Poplavsky’s only official child.
About personal life
“I have never been lonely and never will be. Any normal man has a beloved,” 71-year-old Poplavsky assured five years ago.
What is Poplavsky's pension?
In the declaration for 2025, Poplavsky noted that he received 283,320 UAH of pension from the state. As follows from the reports, Poplavsky received on average about 23,610 UAH per month. This is a record pension among star Ukrainian pensioners who were not afraid to voicehow much they receive from the state.
In 2024, Poplavsky received a total of 273,845 UAH of pension, which is almost 10 thousand less than last year.
In addition, Poplavsky in 2025 received 827,691 UAH of salary at the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts, as well as 780,327 UAH of part-time salary at the private higher education institution “Kiev University of Culture”.
Context
Mikhail Poplavsky was born in the village of Mechislavka, Kirovograd region in 1949. From 1993 until February 2026, he headed the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts.
