Fraudsters have come up with a new deception scheme. Now they are scaring tourists with flight cancellations.

As Om1 Novosibirsk writes with reference to the press service of the Popular Front’s Moshelovka platform, the scheme is especially relevant in May, when people are actively booking summer trips abroad. Most often, attackers use popular destinations among tourists – Turkey and Egypt.
The deception scenario looks like this: about a week before departure, a person receives a call supposedly from “Tour Assistance” and is informed that the flight has been cancelled. The reason is said to be a dangerous situation at the hotel or political unrest in the country. Then the scammers offer to return the money for the tour and urgently buy a ticket for a connecting flight. The cost of such a ticket can reach the full price of the trip.
Moshelovka advises not to believe such calls and not to transfer money to strangers. Flight and hotel status should only be checked through the official apps of the airline, tour operator or carrier.
