Present at the signing of the contract for the Cluj Regional Emergency Hospital, Emil Boc had a message for Ilie Bolojan: “We didn't sit idly by, Mr. Prime Minister, neither did we”

The construction of the Cluj Regional Emergency Hospital will bring a significant increase in the quality of life for the inhabitants of Romania, especially for those from the North-West Region, declared the mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc. The mayor participated, together with the interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan and the interim minister of health, Cseke Attila, at the contract signing ceremony for the execution of the hospital, writes Agerpres.
“It's a teamwork of the Government and that will bring an increase in the quality of life for the citizens of Romania and especially for those from the North-West Region, that's why I sincerely want to thank you. Secondly, I'm glad that the idea of the Regional Emergency Hospital started from this Palace of Victory, in 2011, allocating seven hectares on the land of a military unit, to start thinking about this project. After that everyone did their duty and now we are at the stage where we can enter the field to realize this project of 2 billion lei, 850 beds, also a lot of ATI rooms, everything that is necessary to save lives and have a quality medical act”, declared Emil Boc.
Road infrastructure for the hospital
The mayor emphasized that the local authorities worked in parallel on the necessary infrastructure to support the future hospital.
“We didn't sit idly by, Mr. Prime Minister, neither did we, we prepared. I want to tell you that this summer we have already created a dedicated lane, in both directions, to the regional hospital and from the Regional Emergency Hospital to Cluj for rescue and shared transport. This summer, the extension of Cluj-Floresti from four to six lanes will be completed, including the construction of an overpass with a turn that will enter the Regional Emergency Hospital and the works are completed this summer. Also, the works on the Cluj subway started exactly in the area of the Regional Emergency Hospital, precisely so that the hospital and the public transport part are much better secured, including an additional connection through the back of a commercial complex that will ensure another connectivity to the Regional Emergency Hospital”, explained Boc.
Finally, the mayor referred to the “Right to Stay” European strategy, recently launched in Brussels.
“That is, the right you were talking about, Mr. Minister, the right to choose to stay at home. If we want Romanians to return or those who are not to leave, or if they leave to leave with a round-trip ticket, not just a one-way ticket, is to create conditions for education, health, quality of life here, at our home. Or this hospital is doing exactly that, offering high-performing doctors from Romanian schools, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Haţieganu” from Cluj being a banner, as well as “Carol Davila” and the others in the country, with success, our doctors will have a place to stay at home, the patients who will come to the hospital from the whole region will have a quality medical record and then you can say yes, it is worth staying at home”, Boc added.
