VIDEO What will USR do if Ilie Bolojan is overthrown by a no-confidence motion. Dominic Fritz: “We have a very clear party decision”

The president of the Save Romania Union (USR), Dominic Fritz, said on Thursday, in an interview on Europa FM, that his party will enter the opposition and will refuse to participate in the formation of a new government alongside the PSD if the executive led by Ilie Bolojan is dismissed through a no-confidence motion voted together with the AUR.
“We have a very clear decision of the party. If a motion of censure PSD+AUR passes, we will not be able to return to negotiations and negotiate a new government with PSD. We would no longer believe that this PSD wants to take the country in the right direction. We will not be a spare wheel for Ciolacu-Ciucă 2.0,” said Fritz, on Thursday, in an interview on Europa FM.
Fritz claims that USR conveyed this position also during the consultations in Cotroceni with the president Nicușor Dan.
“I told him that we will not be able to be part of a blackmail game, of a double game of the PSD with the extremists,” declared the USR leader.
Appeal to the PSD: “There is still a way back”
At the same time, Fritz insisted that the motion is not inevitable and that there is still room for PSD to withdraw from this move.
“No censure motion has passed yet. There is still a way back. I am not giving PSD advice. I am just saying, if they are responsible people they must know that there is still a way back. No one is forcing the PSD to vote a censure motion with the extremists and then say they want to restore a pro-European government against the extremists,” he said.
He stated that the USR will try to block the motion and does not rule out discussions including with MPs from other parties to avoid its adoption or to outline a minority government solution.
“We will do our best not to pass a motion of censure, and I find it very interesting if AUR really wants to prove that he really is the useful idiot of the PSD. I would not be surprised if a motion of censure initiated by PSD does not pass. AUR tells us all day how bad PSD is. I will not be part of any government with my party that is supported by AUR. Let AUR ask himself if he wants to be the ball boy for PSD (…) We will discuss. Why not discuss with such people at least not to vote on a motion, why not also support a minority government, maybe there are people in the PSD who want to support a minority government”, declared the USR leader.
“PSD not only wants to overthrow Bolojan, but let's go back in time, to the time of Ciolacu-Ciucă, where we run a deficit, open the taps for party clientele and let no one control us. Of course we don't want that,” Fritz said.
