The BOR Synod approves the canonization of 16 women with a holy life. Who are they

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church approved, on Tuesday, in the working meeting, the canonization of 16 women with a holy life (martyrs, monks, spouses of rulers, mothers of saints and confessor).
The meeting of the Holy Synod was held in the “Teoctist Patriarch” Class in the Patriarchate Palace, under the presidency of the Most Holy Father Patriarch Daniel.
According to a statement of the Romanian Patriarchate, quoted by Agerpres, these holy are:
- Lady Maria Brâncoveanu (1661-1729), the wife of Saint Voivod Martyr Constantin Brâncoveanu, with the title of Holy Mrs. Maria Brâncoveanu and with honor on August 16;
- Schemanun Filofteia Antonescu from the Pasărea Monastery (half of the eighteenth century-1833), with the title of Holy Cuvious Philofteia from Pasărea, the mother of Saint Calinic from Cernica and with honor on April 12;
- Muceniţă monk Evloghia Ţârlea from the Samurcăşeşti-Corogârla Monastery (1908-1949), with the title of Holy Cousin Muceniţă Evloghia from Samurcăşeşti and with honor on December 19;
- Schemanun Elisabeta Lazăr from the Pasărea Monastery (1970-2014), with the title of Holy Cousin Elisabeta from Pasărea and with honor on June 5;
- nun Platonide (1487-1554), the wife of Saint Voievod Neagoe Basarab, with the title of Holy Cuviossa Platonida from Argeş (former Despina Miliţa, the wife of the voivode) and with honor on September 26;
- Măndălina Cătălinici (1895-1962) with the title of Saint Magdalena from Mălainiţa and with honor on October 15;
- Schemanun Mavra from Mount Ceahlău (17th-XVIII centuries) with the title of Holy Cousin Mavra on Ceahlău and with honor on May 4;
- Schemanun Nazarethe first abbot of the Văratic Monastery (1697-1814), with the title of Holy Cousin Nazaria from Văratic and with honor on August 17;
- Schemanun Olympicsthe founder of the Varatic Monastery (1757-1842), with the title of Holy Cousin Olympiad from Văratic and with honor on August 17;
- Olimpia Tanase (1880-1967), the mother of the Petroniu from Prodromu, with the title of Saint Olimpia from Fărcaşa and with honor on July 4;
- Blandina Gobjila (1906-1971), teacher, 15 years deported to Siberia, with the title of Holy Confessor Blandina from Iasi and with honor on May 24;
- nun Elisabeta (Safta) BrancoveanU (1776-1857), with the title of Saint Cuvioasa Elisabeta (Safta) Brâncoveanu and with honor on August 17;
- Anastasia Şaguna (1785-1836), the mother of Saint Hierarch Andrei Şaguna, with the title of Saint Anastasia Şaguna, the mother of Saint Hierarch Andrei Şaguna and with honor on December 1;
- nun Filotimia Manolache From the Râmeţ Monastery (1896-1989), the mother of Saint Cuvios the merciful Dometie from Râmeţ, with the title of Holy Cuvioasa Filotimia from Râmeţ, the mother of Saint Cuvios the Merciful and with honor on July 6;
- nun Antonina Diaconu from the Tismana Monastery (1923-2011), with the title of Saint Antonina from Tismana and with honor on December 23;
- nun Matrona Ciupaleathe abbot of the Hurezi Monastery (1852-1935), with the title of Holy Cousin Matrona from Hurezi and with honor on May 5.
The working meeting of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church will continue on Wednesday.
Two spouses of rulers of Muntenia will be canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church. The decision will be formalized in 2026
