Chief designer of Fire Point announced a “European ballistic shield” based on the FP-7 G

“This missile has a vertical launch, it tilts quickly, it’s very maneuverable, and it was originally planned to intercept ballistic targets. And we say to the Europeans: please take our missile, we have an interceptor. Train your radars to intercept ballistic missiles at our ballistic launches. Learn. And then let’s integrate with us. And you have an interceptor that was made specifically to intercept ballistic missiles,” he said.

However, the rocket does not have a kill switch, he added. That is, once a manufacturer has delivered a rocket to someone, they can no longer turn it off.

“This is the whole ideology that stands behind all our weapons. We sell not only security, we sell independence. This is very important, because you know that for every HIMARS launch we receive some kind of keys from the Americans. For every sneeze we get permission. This is some kind of horror. Nothing is needed here,” said Shtilerman.

He said the manufacturer wants to allow Europeans to train on its ballistic launches, but in return wants them to open up their software and show that they don't have remote shutdown either.

“And, oddly enough, a huge number of European companies agreed to take part in this consortium. Now we think that by the end of 27 we will carry out the first interception of ballistics,” said the co-owner of Fire Point.

Context

The FP-7 is a Ukrainian ballistic missile manufactured by Fire Point. It was created on the same principle as the FP-5, known as the Flamingo. The FP-7 has a stated range of up to 200 km, its warhead is 150 kg. It reaches speeds of up to 1500 m/s (about 5400 km/h), can rise to a height of up to 65 km, and the total flight time is approximately 250 seconds. The declared deviation from the target is no more than 14 m. The GORDON publication spoke in detail about this missile and its potential successor FP-9.
