Georgiev stressed in Luxembourg that the date for the meeting of Russian and US leaders has not yet been set, but “when efforts for peace are made, such efforts should be supported.”
He added that Bulgaria will continue to support the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. According to him, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should also participate in the meeting, because the fate of Ukraine should not be decided without the participation of this country.

Trump and Putin meeting in Budapest
Trump and Putin agreed to meet in person in Budapest during a telephone conversation on Thursday. The only route to the Hungarian capital that would not require flying through the airspace of another European Union country or Ukraine is over the Mediterranean Sea, Albania or Montenegro, and then over Serbia.
Both Bulgaria and Hungary are members of the International Criminal Court, which issued an arrest warrant for Putin over his role in deporting Ukrainian children during the Russian attack. Although in April this year Hungary has notified its withdrawal from the ICC, but it will only take effect in June next year.
