“Aport, TCKshnitsa.” The management of the Odessa pre-trial detention center was suspended due to possible abuse of a prisoner

The management of the Odessa pre-trial detention center (SIZO) has been suspended from official duties while checking a video circulated online in which cellmates commit unlawful acts against one of the prisoners. The State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine announced this on Facebook on June 7.

According to the Odessa publication Dumskaya, a former employee of the territorial center for recruitment and social support (TCC and SP) was allegedly abused in the pre-trial detention center.

The video shows a man being forced to use his teeth to bring slippers to other prisoners.

“Fetch, TCKshnitsa. Bring it here, to me. Nearby,” says one of the men in the video.

According to the publication's sources, the video was filmed about a week ago. It is reported that the so-called supervisor of the 6th building, nicknamed Sportik, who is characterized as a “thieves of bandits,” is training a TCC employee.

The criminal executive service emphasized that there is no expert opinion on the reliability of the video material yet.

They also indicated that a special team from the senior staff of the Department for the Execution of Criminal Sentences was sent to the detention center to check possible violations of human rights and clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
