During his speech, the President said, among other things: about the European Union, which he compared to a fading star. However, he emphasized that he would like her to avoid this scenario. He criticized, among others, the agreement with the Mercosur countries, the Green Deal, centralist tendencies or migration policy.

– I believe that Poland should lead the European Union reform camp, open to all countries that do not agree to the continuation of current policies and at the same time do not want to be included among the opponents of the very idea of United Europe – said President Nawrocki.

He emphasized that he cares about “European integration, but based on sound principles” and that he also wants “a strong Poland in a healthy EU.” – I will encourage the government of the Republic of Poland, together with the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and all ministers, to adopt such an approach – said the president.

President: it is important for Poland to continue military purchases from the USA and South Korea.

It is important that Poland uses the production capacity of its own arms industry, but also continues to purchase equipment from allies, including the USA and South Korea, said President Karol Nawrocki during a New Year's meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Poland.

– Next month will mark four years since Russia's full-scale attack on Ukraine. Our historical experiences confirm the truth that no matter (…) whether Russia is tsarist, white or red, its goal is always the will to conquer. (…) That is why I have supported and will continue to support efforts that can lead to a lasting and just peace and ensure Europe's security, Nawrocki emphasized on Thursday.

The president noted that Poland was also affected by Russian aggression, in the form of cyber attacks, drone incursions, artificial migration pressure and disinformation. Therefore, as he emphasized, we are expanding our own armed forces in Poland and their defense capabilities, and “by protecting Poland, we also protect Europe and fulfill all allied obligations.”

Nawrocki emphasized that he would continue to support activities aimed at modernizing the Polish army, and that it was important for Poland to use the production capacity of its own arms industry, “but also to continue purchasing the most modern equipment from our proven allies.” – Including primarily the United States of America and the Republic of South Korea – he added.

Nawrocki: More than 80 years after the end of World War II, the German reparation debt has not been repaid to Poland

More than 80 years since the end of World War II, the German reparation debt has not been repaid to Poland, said President Karol Nawrocki on Thursday. He added that liability does not expire. I am reaching out for cooperation, hoping that this approach will be reciprocated, he said.

During the New Year's meeting with the Diplomatic Corps, the President raised the issue of war reparations. He expressed hope that “a solution will be found for unresolved issues regarding the past.”

– In addition to legal responsibility, there is also moral, political and financial responsibility, which does not expire. More than 80 years after the end of World War II, the German reparation debt has not been repaid to Poland. I am reaching out for cooperation, hoping that this approach will be reciprocated, he said.

The president recalled that during last year's visit to Berlin he presented specific proposals regarding reparations. – Germany's growing defense spending could be used to purchase cutting-edge equipment, including American equipment, which would then be transferred to Poland. My country, as a key country on NATO's eastern flank, stabilizes the security of the region, including the security of Germany, said Nawrocki.

Nawrocki: Russian imperialism will not disappear with the current host in the Kremlin

Russian imperialism will not disappear with the current host in the Kremlin, said President Karol Nawrocki. He added that this is a “durable state mechanism deeply rooted in the history, geography and political culture of this country,” and Russia will not abandon its policy of expansion.

During Thursday's meeting with the Diplomatic Corps, President Nawrocki spoke about the dangers related to Russia's actions. He stated that one of the country's goals, “apart from persecuting its own citizens, is territorial expansion, mass murders and attacks on civilian targets, including hospitals and schools.”

– Such a country is Russia, whose examples of imperial policy we have been observing for centuries and we can observe every day. Poland, which has bordered Russia for centuries, is as aware as anyone of the threat posed by Moscow, he emphasized.

The president stated that “imperialism is an element of Russian state identity” and “serves to legitimize a government that cannot boast of modernization successes or an attractive development model.”

– Russian imperialism is therefore neither an anomaly nor exclusively what we call Putinism. Unfortunately, we must be aware all over the world that this imperialism will not disappear with the current host in the Kremlin, Nawrocki emphasized.

The president said that Russia would not abandon further expansion once an agreement was signed with it ending its aggression in Ukraine. He added that only “increasing the defense capabilities of all allies and our unity can deter and deter Russia.”

– I will mobilize the countries of the region, as well as our distant allies, to make joint decisions that will effectively deter and discourage Russia from continuing its aggressive, neo-imperial policy. What is at stake is peace in Europe and the safe development of our countries – he emphasized. (PAP)
