This is how Russia bypasses sanctions. The first shipment of oil arrived in Georgia

The first shipment of Russian oil from Rosneft arrived at the new Georgian Kulevi refinery at the beginning of October, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing data from LSEG and sources from raw materials traders.

Reuters reported that the Kaiseri tanker delivered 105,340 metric tons of crude oil to the Kulevi refinery terminal in western Georgia on October 6.

The agency noted that officially Moscow and Tbilisi have not maintained diplomatic relations since 2008, when Russia invaded Georgia. However, the ruling Georgian Dream party has strengthened economic relations with Russia in recent years.

According to Reuters, Georgia is another direction for Russia that can help it bypass the sanctions it was subject to after its aggression against Ukraine.

On the night of August 7-8, 2008, Russia attacked Georgia. The conflict began after a series of Ossetian-Georgian clashes. As a result of the war, which lasted five days, Russia blocked Georgia's accession to NATO and led to Tbilisi losing control over the separatist republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. (PAP)
