Tens of thousands of Palestinians forced to leave their homes started on Friday to go through the apocalyptic landscape of the Gaza strip to return to the ruins of their homes, after the armistice entered into force and the Israeli troops began to withdraw in the first phase of the termination.

A huge column of people took it to the north, along the coast road, to the city of Gaza, the largest urban area of the enclave, which had been attacked just a few days ago in one of the largest Israeli offensives of this war, notes Reuters.

“Glory to the Lord that my house is still standing,” said Ismail Zayda, 40 years old, in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza. “But the place is destroyed, the houses of my neighbors are destroyed, whole neighborhoods have disappeared,” she added.

In the south, people made their way through the dusty landscape and full of craters and ruins that once was the second largest city in Gaza, Khan Younis, which the Israeli forces laughed on the face of the Earth this year. Most were silent.

A middle-aged man, Ahmed al-Brim, was pushing a loaded bicycle in front and back: his family needs firewood to cook. That's all they managed to recover from the ruins of their house.

“We went to our area. It was destroyed. We don't know where we will go after it. We couldn't take furniture, clothes or something, not even winter clothes. There was nothing left,” he said.

Mahdi Saqla, 40, said that his family decided to leave north, in the direction of Gaza, as soon as he heard the news of the fire.

“Of course, there are no houses – they were destroyed,” he said.

“But we are only happy to return where our homes were, even over the rubble. And this is a great joy. For two years we suffer, being forced to move from one place to another,” added the Palestinian.

Exciting images show with the Palestinians took it on the way back to their homes, even though probably VPR found only ruins:

In some places, the machines have already begun to clean the rubble:

The number of blocks and houses destroyed in the Gaza strip is enormous, the landscape is practically a large ruins:

A family put the Palestinian flag over a pile of rubble, and others are wearing another big flag, even if drilled.
