The Kremlin excluded on Monday the possibility of “fast results” in the negotiations of normalizing the Russian-American relations, given the complexity of the topics to address, although he described as useful and effective discussions with American officials, among which he also mentioned the meeting that Russian President Vladimir Putin had on Friday in Saint Petersburg with US President Donald Witkoff.

“The issues in the discussion are extremely complex, so it is difficult to justify the expectation of quick results. The continuous activity,” said the spokesman of the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, in his daily press conference, reports Agerpres.

He stressed that Russia and the US are “at the beginning of the road to normalizing their relationships.” Given that the two countries establish their relationship “practically from scratch, expectations cannot be high,” explained the spokesman of the Russian Presidency.

At the same time, he described as “very useful and efficient” contacts with the US, mentioning in this regard, the new meeting Putin had on Friday at St. Petersburg with the special emissary of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, who came to Russia for the third time for official discussions.

“Any meeting must be well prepared”

However, Peskov mentioned that at the meeting between Putin and Witkoff, the issue of a possible Trump-Putin summit was not addressed. “Any meeting must be well prepared,” he stressed referring to a summit of this kind and added that “continuous activity”, without giving details.

Previously, Trump has expressed frustration for lack of progress in recent weeks. He has always promised that he would stop the Russian-Ukrainian war, but has not been able to get anything outside an energy armistice that Russia and Ukraine have committed to respect, but accuses each other of his violation.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski asked Trump to come to Ukraine to see the devastation caused by Russian aggression, in an interview published on Sunday.

“Before making any decision, before any form of negotiation, come to see people, civilians, fighters, hospitals, churches, children, destroyed or dead,” I addressed Zelenski indirectly to Trump, in the interview given from his hometown Krivoi ROG, where a week ago, a week, of which nine children. A new Russian attack of the same kind and caused several victims, at least 34 dead and 117 injured, took place on Sunday in Sumî.
