Digi and Vodafone completed the purchase of Telekom Mobile, a transaction of 70 million euros. What changes will be for customers and employees

Digi and Vodafone announced on Wednesday, October 1, the completion of the purchase of Telekom Romania Mobile Communications, a transaction by which Digi paid 40 million euros, and Vodafone 30 million euros. Vodafone will acquire control over Telekom Romania, taking over most employees, all post -Paid and business customers, the store network and much of the technical network infrastructure. Prepaid customers and certain assets will be taken over by Digi Romania.

Digi announced on the stock exchange on Wednesday the completion of the purchase from Telekom Romania Mobile Communications of certain assets, including certain spectrum licenses and telecommunications towers as well as the activity of providing prepaid mobile telecommunications services.
“We welcome to the users of Telekom prepaid cards in the Digi network, the best coverage network in Romania, and we intend to provide them with high quality services at competitive prices. At the same time, we thank our subscribers for trust and we inform them that this transaction will improve the quality of the voice and mobile data, and the more services will be coated. Our strategic development plan, through which we invest constantly in the network and peak technology to provide all users access to a high -performance connectivity, ”said Sergei Bulgac, general manager of Digi Romania.
Vodafone announcement: Completion of the merger process, estimated at the beginning of 2026
On the other hand, Vodafone announced that the purchase of 30 million euros of Telekom Romania will involve substantial subsequent investments, especially in the network integration. These investments will complete the over 6.5 billion euros invested by Vodafone in the 28 years of presence in Romania, says the company.
“As a result of the transaction, customers will benefit in the future of a stronger network, with higher speed, higher quality and increased connectivity, by extending the spectrum and increasing the number of sites,” Vodafone statement said.
In the integration process, Vodafone will take over most Telekom Mobile employees.

It is a crucial moment for the Romanian telecommunications market, a consolidated, stronger and potential market, with this transaction. In the future of the industry, contributing to the digital transformation of Romania, for the benefit of customers, employees and the whole society ”, said Nedim Baytorun, CEO Vodafone Romania.
The two companies will continue to function as separate legal entities but part of the same group, until the completion of the merger process, estimated at the beginning of 2026.
The integration of the two organizations will take place in stages. This approach ensures stability and added value in the future through unified operations, innovation and investments.
