Oana Gheorghiu places herself in the Bolojan camp and accuses Nicușor Dan: “Trust is earned very hard, but it can be lost in an instant”

Interim Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu reacted publicly in the context of the political tensions generated by the appointment of Adrian Veștea for the position of Prime Minister, emphasizing, in a message aimed at Nicușor Dan, that the trust “can be lost in an instant”.

Oana Gheorghiu drew attention to the fragility of trust between political leaders and citizens:

“Trust is hard earned, but it can be lost in an instant. That was that moment“, the acting deputy prime minister wrote on Facebook.

“It's not politics that's ugly, but some of the people who make politics have forgotten that power must be exercised with decency”

Gheorghiu criticized the way power is exercised by some politicians, stressing the need to respect democratic values. Although he did not make direct references to individuals, the target of his message is the president Nicușor Dan.

“No, politics is not ugly, but some of the people who make politics have forgotten that power must be exercised with decency, responsibility and respect for those who trusted them“, said Oana Gheorghiu.

The interim deputy prime minister reiterated the principles he considers fundamental for political life:

“I continue to believe that politics must be done with honesty, transparency, respect for democratic norms and respect for honest peoplei.”

Finally, Oana Gheorghiu expressed her support for Ilie Bolojan, at a time when the National Liberal Party is marked by internal tensions.

“I am with Ilie Bolojan and all Romanian workers who want to modernize Romania, stop waste and eliminate privileges“, said the acting deputy prime minister.

We remind you that on Sunday, June 14, President Nicușor Dan appointed Adrian Veștea, first vice-president of PNL and president of CJ Brașov, as prime minister, after the retirement of Eugen Tomac.

52 years old, Veștea is an economist, with studies in accounting and public management, and an expert accountant. He has a long administrative experience: he was mayor of the city of Râșnov (2004–2016), president of the Brașov County Council (2016–2023, respectively from 2024) and Minister of Development in the period 2023–2024.

A member of the PNL since 1994, he was actively involved in the life of the party, supporting the Liberals to remain in power during key periods.

What Adrian Veștea said in the past about Nicușor Dan: “He is an activist who only knows how to block”

This is how the liberal Adrian Veștea criticized Nicușor Dan in an election campaign:

“You know that kid who knocks down the sandcastle you built, he doesn't have a construction permit on the beach, the walls don't respect the height regulation. That kid who knocked down your castle grew up to become the general mayor of Bucharest. Nicușor Dan is not an administrator. He's an activist who only knows how to block, sue, call the police. He wasn't able to bring a big project to Bucharest, but for sure knows how to put a brake on everything that means development. He is not the man to gather, but only to prevent. He will not put anything in place. If you want a president who will block Romania instead of leading it.”
