A huge crater, with a radius of about 50 meters, formed in the city of Amara, from Ialomita county, after a gas bag formed underground was reached while drilling for a well.

The explosion took place on Friday night where the underground gas bag was reached during the drilling. In the area a large crater formed, with a radius of about 40-50 meters, and the gases accumulated in the ground threw sludge at high height.

The consequences of the gas rash were caught on Saturday morning, in several images made from the drone on the spot.

On Saturday morning, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations informed that, following the measurements made by CBRN – Usisu, around 6:40, in Amara, no toxic substances were identified that could endanger the intervention forces and the population.

Currently, the fire is liquidated, the eruption is no longer visible at the mouth of the well.

“We continue to remain in the device for supervision of the area,” said IGSU.

The incident from Amara was reported on Friday, at 3:40 pm, by calling at 112.

“Following a deep drilling (284 m) executed for capturing drinking water. The drilling generated a strong jet of water, gases and solid materials, with heights up to 50-60 m, which led to the formation of a crater with a radius of 40–50 m and endangered the nearby homes,” the authorities said.

Subsequently, the jet was lit, producing visible flames and gas releases.

Under these conditions, 270 people from 144 houses were preventively evacuated, and a risk area was set on a 300 -meter radius. Also, the population of Amara was notified by RO-allert message.
