The numbers speak for themselves. Nearly two out of three respondents believe that Poland is not safe today, while the opposite opinion is only 26 percent. Only 11 percent respondents could not determine their position. CBOS experts noted that in the most difficult historical moments, such as the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, the results in this matter were much lower – then 47 percent saw the threat. respondents.
Comparing the situation of 2022, the percentage of people who see the threat increased significantly. In May last year, at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 42 percent expressed such opinions. respondents, while the opposite opinion was 43 percent. Then, according to CBOS, the fears did not reach the current level.
“The latest data show that a sense of threat to Poland's security is primarily associated with the activities of the Russian Federation” – emphasizes CBOS in its report, indicating growing tensions in the region.
Poles believe in NATO
At the same time, Poles, despite the concerns about the independence of the country, declare more faith in NATO's help. Respondents were asked if Poland could be some commitment of allies in the possible defense of borders today. The answer “yes” gave 68 percent. respondents, of which 14 percent expressed “a decisive conviction,” and another 54 percent It was of the opinion that “you can rather be sure of it.” The distrust of allies was expressed by 24 percent. respondents, and 8 percent It had no opinion on this subject.

The data from the September survey was collected at a sample of 969 people. The surveys were conducted by various methods: 65.4 percent respondents answered as part of direct interviews (CAPI), 22.1 percent by phone (Cati), and 12.5 percent via the Internet (CAWI).
