Jelcz Announces $117 Million Investment and 200 New Jobs in Poland

Jelcz has committed to a substantial investment of around 470 million zł, which will result in the creation of 200 new jobs in Racibórz. This announcement was made by Rafał Żelazny, CEO of the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSSE), during a recent meeting addressing local economic development.
According to reports, the investment is part of a broader public assistance program for the defense industry. Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański noted that three companies from the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) have secured a total of approximately 1.3 billion zł in funding support, with Jelcz being a key participant.
The Racibórz facility will utilize existing infrastructure from former Rafako sites. Želazny explained that the public support mechanism under the Polish Investment Zone requires companies to prepare investment projects, which are then evaluated by the relevant special economic zone—in this case, KSSE.
Detailed Investment Plans
In addition to the 200 new jobs, Jelcz is projected to achieve a total employment level of 500 workers. The company will benefit from a tax exemption of 40 percent on its declared investment expenditures, which translates to significant financial relief.
The decision to create new jobs is a prerequisite for receiving this public support. Jelcz submitted its application to KSSE, specifying the creation of 200 positions.
Support for PGZ Companies
On the same day, executives from three PGZ companies received approvals from KSSE for tax incentives totaling 386 million zł to support their combined investments of close to 1.3 billion zł. Both Jelcz and Rosomak will initiate production in Racibórz, while Bumar-Łabędy plans to expand its facility in Gliwice.
- Jelcz’s investment will amount to 469 million zł, yielding approximately 700 vehicles annually for the defense sector.
- Rosomak is investing 112 million zł to initiate production in Racibórz.
- Bumar-Łabędy will invest 711 million zł to modernize and expand its operations in Gliwice.
