NATO’s Commander to Present Victory Strategy Against Potential Russian Attack

General Alexus Grynkewich, the Supreme Allied Commander for NATO in Europe, is set to present his “theory of victory” regarding the most effective strategies to counter a potential attack from Russia. This announcement comes from a NATO spokesperson, as reported by AFP.
Colonel Martin O’Donnell, Grynkewich’s spokesperson, explained that the commander’s concept revolves around maintaining NATO’s advantage, which aligns with the Alliance’s deterrence and defense plans. He stated, “Given the unstable and complex global security context, we must create the necessary conditions now to deter any aggression and, if required, to prevail in the event of an attack.”
General Grynkewich will share his insights at a security conference scheduled for next Monday, October 12, in Warsaw.
This initiative from NATO’s highest military leader comes at a time when the Alliance aims to signal to Moscow the need to cease its hybrid campaign of sabotage and interference against Ukraine’s supporters, as emphasized by Western officials.
NATO has traditionally kept its defensive strategies against potential Russian aggression under strict confidentiality. However, fears have escalated recently, especially after several high-profile incidents, such as the discovery of an explosives-laden drone at Leipzig Airport in Germany.
On Monday, the head of Germany’s foreign intelligence service accused Russia of intensifying its “shadow war” against Germany, raising concerns about the risk of armed conflict. Martin Jäger, head of the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), remarked during an annual public hearing of intelligence leaders in parliament that, “The confrontation we face with Russia has taken on a new, more dangerous dimension.” He further warned that Germany is at risk of being drawn into violent conflict with Russia, citing the attempted attack in Leipzig as a prime example, according to Reuters.
