Amazon Announces Major Investments in Poland Amid E-commerce Growth

Katarzyna Ciechanowska-Ciosk, the country leader for Amazon in Poland, has revealed the company’s ambitious plans for substantial investments in the country. “Poland is one of the fastest-growing markets for e-commerce in Europe,” she stated.

She emphasized that significant shopping events, such as Prime Day—which lasted four days in Poland this year, concluding on June 26—play a crucial role for the company. In March, Amazon announced its plan to invest 23 billion PLN over the next three years, adding to the 45 billion PLN already invested in Poland.

Ciechanowska-Ciosk noted that the Polish market exhibits considerable growth potential. “Almost 55% of Poles are shopping online more frequently than they did a year ago, indicating robust growth in this sector,” she remarked.

New Robotic Center Set for Construction

The company’s most significant upcoming investment will be a new logistics center in Dobromierz, which Ciechanowska-Ciosk described as one of the most advanced Amazon facilities in Poland and the fourth fully automated logistics center worldwide. “These initiatives clearly demonstrate that Poland is a strategic location for us on the continent,” she added.

Regarding the automation of labor, she explained, “Robots will assist but not replace people. They will handle transportation and sorting of products, reducing the distance workers need to travel and accelerating order fulfillment.” The new Amazon center is expected to employ around 1,000 workers and utilize 5,000 robots in its first year of operation.

Upcoming Documentary Series on Former President

Additionally, Amazon is developing a series focused on a former Polish president and his family.

Ciechanowska-Ciosk outlined that Amazon’s model, which has been adopted globally by millions, is built on three pillars: unlimited, free, and fast delivery of Prime products without minimum order value, free returns, and cloud gaming through Luna, along with Prime Video featuring strong local productions. A documentary series about Aleksander Kwaśniewski and his family is set to be released in 2027, emphasizing the importance of local content.

She mentioned, “Sales typically peak during major events like Prime Day and Black Friday,” noting that Polish consumers often prepare for these occasions with shopping lists rather than making impulsive purchases.

Last year, the most popular product categories included cosmetics, hygiene products, electronics, toys, and home renovation items. Amazon devices, such as the Kindle and Echo with Alexa, are frequently chosen, alongside trending products from Polish brands. Currently, there are over 1,200 domestic brands listed in the ‘Polish Brands’ store, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous year.
