Ismael Saibari Scores Fastest Goal of World Cup 2026 Before Record Falls

In a remarkable turn of events at the 2026 World Cup, Ismael Saibari of Morocco scored the fastest goal of the tournament in just 71 seconds during the group stage match against Scotland at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. The 25-year-old forward, who previously played alongside Dennis Man at PSV Eindhoven, capitalized on a precise through ball from Brahim Diaz, striking powerfully into the top corner past goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

However, the record for the quickest goal was short-lived, as Matias Galarza of Paraguay soon eclipsed Saibari’s achievement by scoring just 65 seconds into their match against Turkey, with a powerful strike from outside the box.

Saibari’s impressive start came just hours before Galarza’s record-breaking moment. His debut goal at this World Cup had previously occurred in Morocco’s first match against Brazil, where he also found the net in the 21st minute, contributing to a 1-1 draw.

Having grown up in the PSV academy, Saibari enjoyed a stellar season in the Eredivisie, netting 15 goals and providing 8 assists in 27 appearances. His outstanding performances have caught the attention of Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich, which has made a €55 million offer accepted by PSV.
