G7 summit under heavy security. Thousands of security forces are being deployed in France, protests have already begun

France has deployed nearly 16,000 law enforcement and military personnel to provide security for the country's Group of Seven (G7) summit next week in Evian-les-Bains. Le Monde reported this on June 14.

How much it will cost to organize the summit, as the media writes, has not yet been “estimated.”

Enhanced security measures will include QR codes for entry and access zones (“blue” and “red” zones). Le Monde notes that the organization of the summit is partly based on the experience of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Law enforcement preparations for the summit lasted approximately 10 months and included special exercises and simulations.

On the eve of the G7 summit, on June 14, about 15 thousand people protested in Geneva, about 50 km from Evian.

Bild writes that the situation in the center of Geneva resembles a state of emergency. Fearing unrest, the owners of hundreds of shops, banks and supermarkets boarded up the windows and facades of their establishments. Demonstrators intend to protest on a number of issues, including the war in the Gaza Strip, global overexploitation of resources and the economic hegemony of the G7 countries.

During the 2003 summit in Geneva, there were already riots, recalls Bild.
