The Public Chamber proposed introducing paternal capital

In Russia, they proposed introducing paternal capital in the amount of 2 million rubles. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on Demography, Protection of Family, Children and Traditional Family Values Sergei Rybalchenko.
According to him, such a payment could be received by families in which a third or subsequent child was born in the same marriage.
“If a father, at the birth of a third child in one family, could receive paternal capital in the amount of 2 million rubles, essentially for an additional 18 square meters of housing, I believe that this tool would definitely work,” said Sergei Rybalchenko.
He noted that such a measure could provide additional support for large families. In 40% of cases, mothers with three children no longer work. If there are four children in a family, the share of working women becomes even lower. Therefore, an additional financial burden falls on the father. A representative of the Public Chamber believes that paternal capital can not only support families with children, but also become an incentive for housing construction.
The proposal was made at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
