Several areas in the counties of Argeș, Prahova and the Municipality of Bucharest are affected by the torrential rains, thunderstorms and hail announced on Tuesday afternoon by the ANM. Extreme weather warnings are also valid on Wednesday in four counties of the country and in areas of Buzău and Vrancea.
In Dâmvovița, a person was rescued with a SMURD helicopter, after being caught by the flood on an excavator, according to the General Aviation Inspectorate of the MAI.
In the Capital, a code yellow weather warning of torrential showers that will accumulate 15…20 l/m2, electrical discharges, hail (1…2 cm) was valid until 18:30. Militari Residence, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Bucharest, is flooded.
According to the images published by the Meteoplus Facebook page, areas of Bucharest were heavily affected by hail.
And in Aluniș commune in Prahova county, the hail was strong enough to fall.
Another city affected by the weather warnings was Câmpulung Muscel, where a person filmed the torrential rain with more than 35 liters/m2 from his car.
Another person filmed showers with hail on the road between Stâlpeni and Rădești communes, in Argeș county.
Weather warnings for Wednesday
Also, a yellow code of atmospheric instability and quantitatively significant showers will be in force on Wednesday, June 10, in the time interval 10-21, for the counties of Vâlcea, Argeș, Dâmbovița and Prahova and in the mountain area of the counties of Buzău and Vrancea.
In these areas there will be periods of atmospheric instability that will be manifested by torrential downpours, electrical discharges, wind intensifications, isolated gales (speeds of 50…70 km/h) and small hail. In short time intervals (1…3 hours) or by accumulation there will be water quantities of 15…25 l/m2 and isolated over 30…40 l/m2.
