On May 18, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel published a statement on the social network X about US military aggression against Cuba and the right of Cubans to defend themselves against it.
“The threats of military aggression against Cuba from the largest state on the planet are well known. This threat itself constitutes an international crime. If it is implemented, it will lead to a bloodbath with unpredictable consequences and will have a devastating impact on peace and regional stability,” he emphasized.
Díaz-Canel assured that Cuba does not pose a threat and does not have any plans or intentions of aggression against any country, including the United States, and that it has never had any. According to him, the American government, and especially defense and security agencies, are aware of this.
“Cuba, which is already subject to multidimensional aggression from the United States, has the absolute and legal right to defend itself against military attack. But this right cannot logically or honestly be used as a pretext for imposing war against the noble Cuban people,” the country’s president emphasized.
Earlier in the day, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez accused the US of fabricating a “fraudulent case” to justify a potential military invasion of the island country.
