This is the president of Orlen. Who is Ireneusz Fąfara?

Orlen announced a competition for the position of president of the management board in April, which was related to the expiring term of office of the current management board. Candidates could be submitted until April 16, 2026. In addition to the president, the company also announced a competition for seven vice presidents.

At its meeting on June 2, Orlen's supervisory board appointed the following people to the company's management board: :
— Ireneusz Fąfara for the position of president of the management board,
— Sławomir Jędrzejczyk for the position of vice-president of the management board for finance,
— Ireneusz Sitarski for the position of vice-president of the management board for Downstream,
— Robert Soszyński for the position of vice-president of the management board for operations,
— Marek Balawejder for the position of vice-president of the management board for Consumers and Products,
— Marcin Wasilewski for the position of vice-president of the management board for development and investments,
— Sławomir Staszak for the position of vice-president of the management board for Energy,
— Wiesław Prugar for the position of vice-president of the management board for Upstream
All appointed persons serve as members of the Orlen Management Board in the current term of office. The only change is the absence of a new management team Witold Literackiwho currently serves as vice president of the management board for corporate affairs and first deputy president of the management board.

Who is Ireneusz Fąfara, president of Orlen?
Ireneusz Fąfara has been the president of Orlen since 2024.
As we read on the website of the Płock concern, in the years 2010-2017 he was associated with the Orlen Group. As president of the management board of Orle Lietuva, he reformed the refinery in Mažeikiai and brought it to profitability.
Since the late 1990s, he has held top managerial positions in large public and private companies.
Member of the supervisory boards of Rockbridge TFI (2018-2024), PKO BP (2009-2010), LOTOS (2009-2010), Export Credit Insurance Corporation (2007-2009), Kompania Węglowa (2003-2005), National Health Fund (2005-2008), Energy Market Agency (1997-1998).
President of the management board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (2007-2009) and vice-president of the management board of the Social Insurance Institution (1998-2007). A graduate of the University of Economics in Krakow.

Competition in Orlen – a state giant with a new management
Orlen emphasized that the entire procedure has an “open and formal character”and its aim was to “select candidates who meet the competence and professional experience requirements.”
To join the Orlen management board you must have:
- appropriate education and professional experience,
- knowledge of the principles of operation of large organizations,
- no legal obstacles to performing functions in company bodies,
- management and strategic competences
Depending on the position, the requirements may be extended to include experience in specific sectors, such as energy, fuels or management of large investment projects, according to the company.
The process of selecting the president and vice presidents includes;
- analysis of candidate applications,
- assessment of their qualifications and experience,
- job interviews,
- recommendations for relevant decision-making bodies.
