More than 2.7 million Russians were vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis in 2026. This was reported by Rospotrebnadzor.
According to the department, since the beginning of the season, more than 176 thousand people have contacted medical organizations after being bitten by ticks. The most requests were registered in the Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Vologda, Kirov, Kostroma and Novosibirsk regions.
For prevention, acaricidal treatments are carried out in the territories. Now more than 149 thousand hectares have been processed. Rospotrebnadzor reminded that vaccination remains the most effective way to protect against tick-borne viral encephalitis. First of all, the vaccine is recommended for residents of endemic regions, as well as for those planning trips to such areas. Experts also advise using repellents and insectoacaricidal agents, and choosing protective clothing when walking in nature.
Earlier it became known that over a week in the Krasnoyarsk Territory more than a thousand people suffered from ticks.
