Chestnut trees bloomed in Krasnoyarsk / Society news of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

2 June 13:14

Chestnuts began to bloom in Krasnoyarsk, which grow on the avenue Mira and near the city administration.

Photos of exotic trees were shared in the mayor's office.

Remember, chestnuts were brought to the city in 2005. At first, every winter they were hidden under glass covers and covered with warm materials, saving them from the cold. Gradually, the trees grew stronger and took root, and they no longer needed such measures. In 2009, chestnuts bloomed for the first time, and a couple of years later some began to bear fruit – this usually happens in mid-July. But experts warn that, unlike their French relatives, Krasnoyarsk chestnut nuts are inedible – they are of a different variety, their fruits are bitter and can even be poisonous to the body.
