Russia fired missiles into western Ukraine on Friday evening. Explosions in Kyiv as well

Air raid sirens sounded in several regions of Ukraine on Friday evening as cruise missiles were detected heading west of the country and explosions were reported including in the capital and other areas in the Kyiv region, according to the Kyiv Post.
Explosions were reported both in Kiev and near Bila Tzervka in the same region. The Ukrainian Air Force announced that it had detected cruise missiles headed for Vinnytsia, a region in western Ukraine, and urged local residents in potentially affected areas to take shelter immediately.
The mayor of Lviv, Andrii Sadovii, in turn urged the residents not to ignore the air raid sirens.
“Missiles are over western Ukraine. Do not ignore the air raid alert. Move to a safe place and stay there until the green light is given,” Sadovii said.
At the moment, no information was available about possible victims or property damage.
Air raid alerts remained active in several regions as Ukrainian authorities monitored the threat. The air raid alert in Kiev was lifted at 8:11 p.m. (local time, which coincides with Romania time), although officials continued to urge residents to follow safety instructions in the event of further attacks.
Zelensky said that Russia is “preparing a new massive attack”
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that intelligence reports showed that Russia was “preparing a new massive attack”.
“It is important that all our partners know what is happening and that Russia continues to bet on missiles and the continuation of the war, not on diplomatic steps,” Zelenskiy wrote in a post on X.
In the night from Thursday to Friday, a Russian drone fell on a block in the city of Galati, in the most serious incident that took place on Romanian territory since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Two people, a woman and her child, arrived at the hospital following the event.
