May 1 mini-holiday: Barbecue places in Bucharest. Where you can make a fire without risking a fine. Where to have a picnic

The Environmental Guard warns, on May 1st, that not every patch of green grass means free to grill, mentioning the areas in Bucharest where fires can be made. In other places you can have a picnic, but without lighting a fire.

“May 1 without a fine? It's possible! If it's May 1, it's clear: little ones, barbecue smoke, friends and the famous promise: “This year we're really collecting after ourselves!” But beware! Not every patch of green grass means free to grill”, warn the officials of the Environmental Guard, quoted by News.ro.

They specify that, according to the Picnic Law (Law no. 54/2012), grilling with fire is allowed only in areas specially arranged for picnics, equipped with fire pits, tables and spaces for waste collection.

In parks or designated areas for picnics, you can sit on green grass, but without lighting a fire without a grill, warn the commissioners of the Environmental Guard.

In Bucharest, the places where you can barbecue in landscaped spaces are:

  • Millers Park
  • Dobroesti Park
  • Lunca Florilor Park
  • Plumbuita I Park
  • Ice Factory Park
  • Saint Pantelimon Park

However, grilling is not allowed:

  • in ordinary parks without a specially arranged area
  • at the edge of the forest
  • on the shore of the lake
  • in improvised spaces
  • around the block or on the balcony

“In one's own yard, the barbecue is allowed, but with compliance with the safety rules and without fire risks. If you choose the “let it go here too” fines can reach between 2,000 and 5,000 lei, and for other violations provided by the law, the sanctions can be between 100 and 3,000 lei”, mentions the Environmental Guard.

The institution specifies that several institutions can carry out checks: the National Environmental Guard, the Romanian Police, the Gendarmerie, the Local Police and the local authorities.

The Commissioners of the Environmental Guard also warn that, after drinks and beer, the garbage does not remain in nature: “Celebrate nicely, responsibly and without surprise visits from the authorities!”
