The case of the two-year-old child who died on Friday evening, after an incident that happened on an inflatable slide mounted in the center of the city center during the Days of the City of Satu Mare, takes a new turn after the results of the autopsy.
If it was initially assumed that he had an accident on the inflatable slide, where he could have been hit by other children there, the medical examiner's report indicates that the death would not have occurred as a result of a blow.
In reality, the child would have had a kidney tumor that had not been diagnosed until then and that would not have shown any visible symptoms. Under these conditions, say the sources cited by the local press, the little one's death would have occurred due to a medical complication, not the incident at the playground.
“It could happen anywhere, including at home in his sleep. That tumor was unknown, it was asymptomatic. The child did not show any signs of being sick. It all happened suddenly.” those close to the family told PresaSM.
As “Adevărul” has already reported, the tragedy happened on the evening of Friday, May 29, around 11:00 p.m., in the children's area in the center of Satu Mare, during the events dedicated to City Days. The child was on an inflatable slide with other minors when he suddenly felt sick.
While waiting for medical help, the father took his child in his arms, but shortly after, the little one went into cardiorespiratory arrest. The medical personnel who arrived on the scene immediately started resuscitation maneuvers and tried for more than an hour to save his life, but without success, having to declare him dead.
On the night of the incident, the police officers from the Satu Mare County Police Inspectorate reported themselves ex officio after they were informed that a two-year-old child from Micula, who was with his parents in the playground set up in 25 Octombrie Square, was unconscious.
The lifeless body was transported to the hospital morgue for necropsy and to determine the exact cause of death. According to the information published on Saturday, the forensic doctors' report shows that the child's death was caused by a tumor.
In this context, the hypothesis of a direct fault of the operator who managed the inflatable slides is, at least on a theoretical level, called into question, although the investigation is to establish all the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
Immediately after the death of the 2-year-old child, the mayor of Kereskenyi Gabor decided to ban the installation of such inflatable slides in the events organized by the municipality. Given the new data regarding the cause of death, it remains to be seen if the mayor will maintain this decision or not.
