George Simion's answer, when asked who AUR would propose as prime minister

Asked insistently on Monday, on Europa FM, to say whether the former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu is the AUR's prime ministerial version, in the case of passing the no-confidence motion, George Simion dodged, then answered directly.

The statements of the AUR leader were made in the show “Romania en direct”, moderated by Cătălin Striblea, a day before the AUR-PSD censure motion against the Government led by Ilie Bolojan.

George Simion reproached the president Nicușor Dan for not exercising his role as a mediator.

“We don't know that (no if we will propose the prime minister) So far, Nicușor Dan has not invited us to Cotroceni to discuss and exercise his role as a mediator. Let's see (no who we propose) to see if we will be invited, if Nicușor Dan gave up the idea stated a few days ago that he excludes such a government”, said George Simion.

Asked by journalist Cătălin Striblea who would be, hypothetically speaking, AUR's proposal for prime minister, Simion initially avoided making a nomination.

“We'll see, hypothetically we launched different names in recent years, it wasn't the case. We'll be very, very careful if we launch any more ideas. Right now, after the motion passes, the ball is in PSD's court,” said Simion.

Insistently asked if Călin Georgescu is a name taken into account by AUR, Simion answered: “Any name that we previously stated can be. I said yes.”

Asked if he thought it was a healthy proposal, Simion replied: “Is democracy healthy?”.

“I would ask the Romanians now if it is still the case, because there were different elections, if they want a person, which person they want as prime minister. I don't know if Mr. Georgescu will want to occupy the position of prime minister, at the time when he was dragged into a political process and at the time when the public arguments for canceling the elections have not been brought even now. Normally, he should be the president of Romania,” said Simion.

Asked if he found out why Georgescu lived in Vienna, Simion replied that “I don't have such curiosities. No”.

“There are these totalitarian grabs: “Well, what do you do for a living?”. I think he had a job and I think there's no point in getting into stories with nanobots and tiribots,” concluded Simion.
