With the onset of the fire season in the regions of Siberia, the Krasnoyarsk Railway has strengthened fire protection measures: all 14 firefighting trains have been placed on high alert.
The trains are based at large stations equidistant from each other, including Krasnoyarsk, Achinsk, Mariinsk, Bogotol, Lesosibirsk, Uzhur, Uyar, Ilansky, Koshurnikovo, Abakan and Askiz.
This arrangement allows them to be quickly sent to any point on the highway in 27 districts of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 8 districts of the Republic of Khakassia, 4 districts of the Kemerovo Region and one district of the Irkutsk Region.
Special teams are ready to quickly leave to eliminate forest and steppe fires, as well as to provide assistance during fires in populated areas located near the railway. They are capable of reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h, and in such situations they are given priority movement.
Each train is equipped with tanks that can hold more than 5 tons of foaming agent and up to 180 tons of water – this volume is enough to refuel about 40 firefighting tankers.
It should be noted that in 2025, KrasRussian Railways firefighting trains were used 13 times to assist the Ministry of Emergency Situations in extinguishing wild fires and preventing the spread of fire to nearby settlements.
Krasnoyarsk Railway reminds residents of the need to follow fire safety rules: do not set fire to dry grass, do not light fires in open areas and be attentive to any signs of fire.
