According to the specialist, gypsy moth caterpillars fit this description. Typically, butterflies lay eggs on the bark in the summer, so the agronomist advises treating trees with a solution of urea and copper sulfate in late March or early April.

Now the caterpillars are actively eating the foliage. You can save plants with the help of biological preparations: Fitoverm or Lepidocide. They are pollen-friendly and do not harm pollinating insects. After flowering, it is better to use contact preparations based on cypermethrin – they stay on the leaves for up to 20 days if there is no rain.

Collecting caterpillars by hand is almost useless: there are too many of them, and they are toxic. During any processing, the agronomist advises not to forget about gloves and a mask.
