The soldiers detected a camera placed in the hospital by Hamas and destroyed it, recognizing that the device followed the movements of Israeli troops and facilitated the attacks imposed in them – the army announced on Tuesday.

Hospital Nasser in Chan Junus was attacked with two tank missiles aimed at the camera – Israeli media reported on Monday, citing military sources.

Recordings from the scene show that the second missile hit the building a few minutes after the first, when rescuers and journalists came to the place.

At least 20 people were killed in the attack, including rescuers and five journalists working, among others For Al -Jazira television, Reuters and AP or NBC station – local authorities handed over by Hamas.

The Israeli army added that six victims of the attack were identified as Hamas fighters. According to the media referring to the military, none of the killed journalists were included in the group of Hamasists.

The announcement indicated that the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army, General Ejal, recommended to conduct a further thorough investigation in the case, especially in terms of the process of approving the order of the attack and the ammunition used in it.

A hit near the hospital requires the consent of the commander as at least a brigade general; It seems that she lacked in this case – wrote the daily “Haarec”. The YNET portal added that instead of directed missiles, normal ammunition was used.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that the attack was a “tragic accident”. General Zamir said that the army regrets “harm done to uninvolved people” and his goal was not journalists. Army spokesman General Efi Defin added that Israel “does not intentionally attack civilians” and makes every effort to protect them.

In Israeli messages, it was emphasized that Hamas fighters intentionally use civil infrastructure, including hospitals, to conduct their terrorist activities.

The attack was condemned, among others representatives of the UN, the EU, the rule of France or Great Britain and international associations of journalists.

According to the organization, the Journalists' Defense Committee (CPJ) during the war in the Gaza Strip, 192 journalists and media employees were killed, which were mostly Palestinians.

“Sueddeutsche Zeitung”: Israel intentionally kills journalists in the Gaza Strip

Journalists in the Gaza Zone are killed by Israel so that the world does not see the horror playing there – writes “Sueddeutsche Zeitung” on Tuesday. The German daily estimates that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu “wants war with them” and deliberately deprives them of life.

“SZ” cites statistics according to which from October 2023 more than 192 journalists were killed by an Israeli army. In the Monday attack on the hospital Naser in Chan Junus was killed by at least 20 people, and among the victims were journalists working, among others for Al-Jazira television, Reuters and AP agency or NBC station.

The German newspaper resembles the fate of a photojournalist and winner of the Pulitzer Award Anas Al-Szarif, who died in the Israeli raid on August 10. “It was expected death, the Israeli army led a months of several months against him, on all fronts. Al -Szarif counted on with his death, asked people not to stay close to him,” reads the article. Even appeals did not help to ensure his safety on the part of the Journalists' Defense Committee (CPJ).

“SZ” does not believe that the investigation of the Israeli authorities regarding the attack on the hospital Nasser turned out to be fruitful. “It can be expected to lead to nowhere,” he assesses.

“This was the case with the death of the Palestinian-American journalist Al-Jazira Shirin Abu Akil, killed by an Israeli sniper in 2022 without any consequences. The same was also the same in the case of the death of the journalist of the Reuters agency Issama Abdallah, who was hit by an Israeli rocket in October 2023,” we read.

These murders were “deliberate and deliberate”, according to investigations of reporters without borders and many other organizations.

“SZ” there is no doubt that “Israel's government and its army are in fact a deliberate war against the press, and foreign journalists are denied independent access to the Gaza Strip.”

What's more, “Local journalists in Gaza are killed by Israel so that the world does not see the horror movie taking place there.” And those who are still working there do it with “the awareness that they will soon become the target of the Israeli attack.” (PAP)
